Yorkton This Week

Heavy rains might have prevented the actual walking tour part of the first of Randy’s Summer Tours of Yorkton, but that didn’t dampen the spirit of a room full of history buffs, eager to learn more about the history of Yorkton.

Iris P. Simpson and Ben Mussell have been reappointed to the Langenburg Housing Authority Board of Directors. Other members of the board of directors are Brenda Weiss, Ronald Koch and Kasper Bergman. Simpson is chairperson.

Sunrise Health Region is pleased to welcome a new physician to our region. Dr. Seema Ahmed will begin practice on July 25, 2016 as a General Practitioner in Canora. Dr.

Summer is a time to relax, or at least we like to think it is. A board game is a great option, and most well-planned trips to the lake have a game, or two, as part of the paraphernalia that must be packed in the car.

The ‘Cruise the Spirit Car Show’ was held at Good Spirit Provincial Park on the weekend. It was a chance to shine up favoured rides and put them on display for the pleasure of those relaxing at the lake for the day.

Premier Brad Wall recently announced that Alanna Koch will be the new Deputy Minister to the Premier, replacing Doug Moen who is leaving that position at the end of June. Koch has served as Deputy Minister of Agriculture since 2007.

A popular feature at this year’s Yorkton Exhibition was the West Coast Lumberjacks (WCLJ). It has been about a dozen years since the show has been to Yorkton, but owner Darren Dean says they love coming to Saskatchewan.

When the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation held its annual conference in February one issue which was plainly put forward was that feral wild boar are a growing problem in the province, and across Canada.

The Yorkton Regional 4-H Beef Show and Sale has long been held the opening day of the Yorkton Summer Fair. That was again the case last week, as 4-H members from clubs across the local region took to the Agri-pavilion show ring.
