Sri Chinmoy, a popular Indian meditation teacher who is credited to a large degree with bringing eastern spirituality to western traditions had a vision that peace was actually an achievable goal for humanity.

Yorkton United Girls soccer team went undefeated in four matches to capture the Gold medal at Regina Summerfest tournament July 8 - 10.

The Yorkton Cardinals remain in third spot in the Western Major Baseball League East. The Cardinals have a 16-14 record, (5-5 in their last 10), and sit six games back of East-leading Swift Current.

Yorkton hosted the Girls - South “C” Division U 14 and U12 softball Provincial Championship July 8 and 9 at the Jaycee Beach ball diamonds. Langenburg took first place in the U14 with the Redvers Red Sox coming in second.

The Under 8 Yorkton United Boys soccer team travelled to Regina with 2 separate teams, Yorkton Real and Yorkton Atletico, for the annual Summerfest tournament July 8 – 10, which, for most of the boys’, was their first soccer tournament.

The Yorkton United FC Under 18 Men’s team traveled to Lloydminster July 1-3 to contest the Provincial championships and came away as Under 18 Provincial champions.

Scott Weinheimer and Mike Brown, both of Yorkton, recently competed at the Special Olympics Saskatchewan in golf. The Nipawin golf tournament was held June 18.
