Yorkton This Week

One of Saskatchewan's best-known comedians, one who has stood the test of time with more than four decades of making people laugh has just released a book chronicling his career.

The film cameras will be rolling in Yorkton this summer as a former Yorkton resident returns to film a dozen webisodes of a new production featuring a familiar face, at least on YouTube. Daniel Redenbach is the filmmaker.

The Boston Pizza Yorkton Regional High School Female Student of the Month for March is Kyla Bassingthwaite. Kyla is a grade twelve student at YRHS.

The Pan-Am region held its Olympic Referee Selection camp in Mexico City. There were 57 referees from the Pan-Am region that were trying for 12 spots available to them at the Olympic Games.

Yorkton This Week (YTW) has returned from this year's Saskatchewan Weekly Newspaper Association's Better Newspapers Competition with three awards for its weekly edition.

The senior group from Yorkton Troyanda Ukrainian dance has had a very busy spring in the competition circuit. It's of hard work and the love of dance that is creating a very much success of competitions.

Dear Editor: Emergency? Never mind the floodwaters at our front doors, we have bigger problems at hand. I, amongst a community, am grateful and excited to hear that two new doctors have agreed to come to our community in September.

It wasn't the record year we saw in 2008, but 2010 was a very good year for Saskatchewan's Crown corporations.

It was interesting recently to sit through a Regional Housing Conference held in Yorkton recently.

Nearly 100 residents of Kamsack and area attended a rally on April 15 to protest a long-term interruption in services at their hospital.
