Yorkton This Week

We humans like our wars. We have a war on drugs, a war on terror, a war on crime, and now, it seems, a war on cars.

Outdoor skating rinks in Yorkton have been constructed are ready for use weather permitting. The rinks are located at: the Knights of Columbus Park, Heritage Heights, Silver Heights Park, Weinmaster Park, and Appleton Park.

The Yorkton area is well-represented among nominees at the upcoming Saskatchewan Country Music Association awards to be presented in Swift Current April 3. Leading the way is Yorkton's Samara Yung, who has been nominated for the third straight year.

Yorkton Council was not in favour of a proposed route for new SaskPower transmission line coming into the city. Saskpower wants to upgrade its facilities from the transmission station south of the City.

The Bredenbury Lion's Sliding Party was held on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at the Rose Bowl. Hot dogs and hot chocolate were served to all who came out. Quite a few enjoyed the day despite the cold temperature.

Bongo Volleyball wrapped up last Sunday afternoon at the Yorkton Regional High School and two other locations. It was held Feb. 19-20. "We had 27 team take part.
