Accused in kidnapping case released

Regina man placed on electronic monitoring, to abide by conditions.

REGINA — A Regina man facing several charges – including those related to a kidnapping in early February – was released on conditions this morning in Regina Provincial Court.

Dredyn Turningrobe, 19, was one of two men involved in a situation on the 700 block of Princess Street back on Feb.5. On that day, police were called for a report of an injured male.

“When they arrived, police located the male victim,” said RPS in a media release. “He was transported to hospital by EMS and treated for his injuries.”

Turningrobe was arrested for his part in the matter on March 14, making an initial court appearance on the following day. He was charged with armed robbery with a firearm, aggravated assault, and kidnapping.

On May 9, Turningrobe appeared by video before Judge M.T. Beaton with Crown and defense lawyers both consenting to a conditional release. He will be placed under electronic monitoring, and was released on conditions including abiding by a 24-hour curfew, no consumption of alcohol or drugs, assessment and programming for addictions, a weapons prohibition, and no contact with seven named individuals.

He will appear on the aforementioned and other charges in Regina Provincial Court on May 23.
