Two men arrested by Saskatoon Police Guns & Gang Unit seek bail

SASKATOON – Two men arrested following a shooting last month in Saskatoon where a woman was injured are seeking bail.

Hunter Eric Harold Matte, 21, and Jesse Jarrett Magnus, 26, were arrested after officers from the Saskatoon Police Service’s Guns and Gangs Unit, Tactical Support Unit, Canine Unit, and Patrol officers teamed up to raid a home in the 200 block of Avenue S South around 8:45 p.m. on May 3.

Police had set up a perimeter around the home and two women unrelated to the shooting exited the building without incident. Matte and Magnus exited and were arrested without incident. Police found two loaded, sawed-off shotguns, ammunition, body armour, and 15 grams of methamphetamine inside.

Matte is charged with eight firearms-related offences and aggravated assault. Magnus is charged with a firearms offence and aggravated assault. Matte and Magnus have show cause hearings set for May 10  and May 18, respectively.

The two are charged in connection to a shooting on April 28 in the 1500 block of 20th Street West. Officers found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
