Arrest made for attempted murder after violence at Saskatoon bar

SASKATOON - A 20-year-old man from Saskatoon has been charged with attempted murder after a violent altercation at a bar in the city.

According to police, patrol officers responded to a report of an injured person at a bar in the 60-block 24th Street East at around 2:50 a.m. on April 29. A witness reported that a male had broken a glass bottle and threatened to kill the victim in an altercation outside the bar. The suspect is then said to have stabbed/slashed the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. It was later revealed that the suspect and victim were unknown to each other prior to the incident.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a 21-year-old male victim with numerous stab wounds. The victim was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

A high-risk traffic stop was conducted by police at 24th Street East and 2nd Avenue North, where the suspect was arrested without further incident.

The 20-year-old suspect was charged with attempted murder and remains in custody. He is set to appear in court on May 3.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the altercation or has any information about the incident to come forward and contact the Saskatoon Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
