Update: RCMP arrest Alvin Thomas

Alvin Thomas has been charged by Saskatoon Police Service for breaching his court-ordered release conditions following a second-degree murder charge laid by Saskatchewan RCMP in June 2022.

Update: Cumberland House RCMP have located and arrested 40-year-old Alvin Thomas of Saskatoon for being at unlawfully at large. He was located in the Cumberland House detachment area on Thursday, Jan. 26. He is in police custody and was scheduled for court via phone at La Ronge at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 27.

Cumberland House RCMP would like to thank Carrot River RCMP and Nipawin RCMP for their assistance with coordinating efforts to locate and arrest Alvin Thomas. 

SASKATOON - The Saskatchewan RCMP Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team (WEST) is asking the public’s help locating 40-year-old Alvin Thomas who is charged with second-degree murder. 

Thomas has also been charged by Saskatoon Police Service for breaching his court-ordered release conditions following the murder charge laid by Saskatchewan RCMP in June 2022. 

On June 1, 2022, Sask. RCMP released his photo saying they issued a warrant for his arrest in the death of 24-year-old Marisha Hoksbergen from Cumberland House. Police say that at approximately 11:55 on May 29, 2022, Cumberland RCMP got a call about an injured woman. She was pronounced deceased at the local clinic.

Thomas was arrested by Prince Albert police three days later in Prince Albert. He had a show cause hearing in Prince Albert Provincial Court on June 28 and he was granted bail. RCMP WEST is now trying to locate and arrest him and asking the public to report information on his whereabouts.

According to court documents, Thomas also faces two weapons charges and a charge of break and enter. He has appearances in La Ronge Provincial Court as well as Prince Albert. 

Alvin Thomas is approximately 5-foot-10, with black hair and brown eyes. He has tattoos of the word "Crook" in large lettering on his forearm, a band around his wrist, a cursive word with hearts and stars around it on the back of his hand, and initials at the base of his thumb. 

He is known to visit Saskatoon and Cumberland House, but his current whereabouts are unknown.
