PRINCE ALBERT – Two people have been arrested and police are searching for a third in connection to an armed robbery on Sept. 8.
Michael Fourstar, 20, Jonathan Napope, 28, and Skylar Halkett, 19, have all been charged with robbery with a firearm, discharge a firearm with intent to endanger a life, and possession of a firearm.
Fourstar and Napope are in custody and Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) is asking the public’s help locating Halkett.
Police say suspects approached a male victim in the 400 block of 13th Street West and shot him in the leg when they robbed him.
PAPS said that given the random nature of the offence, the propensity of violence to a victim that fully cooperated with the suspects’ demands, and the close proximity to a school, police deployed a large number of resources to immediately mobilize and work all investigational avenues.
Members from the Prince Albert Police Service Proactive Policing Unit (PPU), Crime Reduction Team (CRT), Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT), and Forensic Identification Section all contributed to the investigation.
Police went through several hours of video evidence from the surrounding area, obtained witness statements, and gathered forensic evidence in their investigation. This led to three separate search warrants being executed at residences in Prince Albert that resulted in more evidence relevant to the investigation. PAPS would like to acknowledge the public for their assistance in providing video surveillance that was critical in advancing this investigation.
At this time, investigators don’t believe that this incident is related to a shooting that was reported on Sept. 13. That investigation is still ongoing.
Fourstar and Napope made their first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Monday.
If anyone from the public has information on Halkett’s whereabouts, please do not approach him and contact the Prince Albert Police Service at 306-953-4222 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
