Police seized a 2012 Ford Focus, 103.29 grams of cocaine, 5.06 grams of crack, 34.14 grams of buffing agent, a loaded .45 calibre handgun, $17,835 cash, and assorted paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

SASKATOON – Saskatoon Police Service Drug Unit has arrested a 24-year-old Toronto man following an investigation into drug trafficking.

On June 28, the SPS Drug and Tactical Support Units initiated enforcement action on a man suspected of trafficking drugs. Officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the 200 block of Willis Crescent but the man refused to stop for police and fled in a dangerous manner, striking a parked vehicle in the area of Cope Crescent before fleeing again on foot.

Alhaji Omar Nyan was soon located and arrested without further incident in the 3000 block of Clarence Avenue South. A search warrant was then executed in the 200 block of Willis Crescent where police seized a 2012 Ford Focus, 103.29 grams of cocaine, 5.06 grams of crack, 34.14 grams of buffing agent, a loaded .45 calibre handgun, $17,835 cash, and assorted paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

The Toronto man is facing several charges relating to drug trafficking, weapons, hit and run, possession of the proceeds of crime, and failing to comply with court-imposed conditions. Nyan made his first appearance in Saskatoon court Thursday.

Investigators believe it’s possible he may have struck other parked vehicles when attempting to flee from police. Anyone whose vehicle was parked along Willis Crescent, Cornish Road, or Cope Crescent is encouraged to inspect it for signs of related damage and report any to the Saskatoon Police Service by calling 306-975-8300 and referencing 23-66445.
