SWIFT CURRENT — Organizers of the Long Day’s Night Music Festival are inviting music lovers to celebrate the longest days of the year and the festival’s 20th birthday party June 20 to 22 in Swift Current.
The festival offers three nights of diverse Canadian music under the big top tent.
The weekend features some of Canada's best artists, starting Thursday night with Terra Lightfoot. No stranger to the stage and riding off the release of her recent album Healing Power, the show will not be one to miss. A barrage of bluesy-rock power ballads drawing comparison to artists ranging from Joan Jett to Van Morrison and John Fogerty, she will leave you wanting more.
Saskatoon’s The Radiant will get the crowd going on Friday night with their “wall of sound” psychedelic groove and soaring vocals. Ontario-based, roots/rock kings The Commoners, will headline the night with their "high energy riffs, soulful vocals, and rich harmonies” a Southern-style rock experience to be remembered. The date also marks the release of the band’s newest album Restless.
Saturday night kicks off a birthday bash with the Rider’s Pep Band pre-show, followed by the ever-soulful Lyssa and the Try-Tones, and rounded off with Winnipeg’s Dirty Catfish Brass Band. The Dirty Catfish Brass Band is sure to have everyone on their feet with their blend of big-band, jazz-fusion, showing exactly why they’re as revered in the scene as they are. If all that doesn’t make for a full enough Saturday evening, local band RIBRASH will be rocking the after-party into the wee hours of the late night/early morning.
Along with amazing talent, the festival features libations from Swift Current's Black Bridge Brewery, Great Western, and Lucky Bastard with tasty treats from a variety of food vendors. After the party, get home safe with the free SGI shuttle. The first 100 festival passes are on sale now for $70, $75 after that as well as individual night tickets at longdaysnight.ca or in-person at Pharmasave in Swift Current. The Long Day's Night Music Festival runs in conjunction with the SaskPower Windscape Kite Festival.
