The newly-elected mayor of North Battleford and the new council will be sworn in this evening at a ceremonial first council meeting.

On Sunday, Nov. 15, at approximately 9:30 a.m., White Butte RCMP responded to the report of a single vehicle submerged in a creek off a gravel road approximately four kilometres west of Grand Coulee.

Between Oct. 1 and Nov. 15, both Saskatchewan and Manitoba’s 7-day average count of new COVID-19 cases has been growing at similar exponential rates, with doubling of the numbers occurring on semi-regular intervals.

There are 181 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on November 16, 2020, bringing the provincial total to date to 5,182 cases.

If you see smoke in the vicinity of the Waste Management Facility in the next few days there is no cause for alarm. The city has issued a news release stating they have begun a controlled burn of the clean woodpile at the facility starting today.

Fresh off a new election win, and with a strong mandate, Premier Scott Moe announced on Nov. 16. that the first session of the new Legislative Assembly will begin on Monday, Nov. 30.

The Battlefords AAA Stars have finally gotten in a game at home after their home opener the previous week was cancelled due to winter weather. The North Stars were home to the Saskatoon Contacts Saturday afternoon, losing by a 4-1 final score.

The Battlefords North Stars are off to a three game losing streak to begin this season in 2020-21. The latest two losses came in La Ronge to the Ice Wolves by scores of 5-3 and 7-4.

If these past months of COVID-enforced semi-isolation have done anything, they’ve created in me an addiction to crossword puzzles. And, if doing crossword puzzles has reminded me of anything, it’s that words have various functions.
