When it was announced that St. Peter’s School principal, Tyson Volk, had accepted a job in the Light of Christ Catholic Schools office in North Battleford, residents were eager to know who the next principal would be.

From the SHA: Saskatchewan Health Authority is notifying the public that an individual who tested COVID-19 positive visited the Starbucks location at 19-233 275 Broadway St.

Estevan Mercury Regina – On Aug. 27, the Saskatchewan Party government released its first quarter fiscal update for the 2020 fiscal year, which revealed a $2.1 billion deficit, but one that was $296 million less than projected in the June 15 budget.

There are five new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on August 27. This brings the total to 1,609 reported cases. The new cases are in the North West (3) and Saskatoon (2) zones. Of the 1,609 reported cases, 58 are considered active.

The Saskatchewan government released its budget update for 2020-21 on Thursday, in which they touted a smaller deficit than expected. The deficit is forecast at $2.

The city of North Battleford has announced that beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1 the Waste Management Facility is resuming regular hours of operation. Instead of closing at 5 p.m., their hours will be back to Monday to Saturday from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

From the province: Warm, dry conditions continued this week which allowed crop development and maturation to progress and farmers in all regions of the province to make some harvest headway.

A fundraiser has been launched for a seven year old from Battleford involved in a quad rollover. Jaxon Guthrie was involved in that rollover Aug. 25 and flown by STARS Ambulance in critical condition to the Jim Pattison Childrens Hospital.
