Discovery Co-op’s new food store and pharmacy in Battleford opened its doors at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Battlefords RCMP will be conducting a variety of impaired driving enforcement initiatives during the week of May 12-20.

The latest major retail outlet to set up in North Battleford’s downtown core is now open. The new Giant Tiger store at the corner of 11th Avenue and 102nd Street held its grand opening ceremonies on Saturday morning.

North Battleford Public Library was comic book heaven for local fans on Saturday, as the library hosted Fan Fest. The event included vendors, presenters and video games with a Smash Bros. video game tournament happening in the basement.

The Light of Christ school division held their staff awards Friday night, where they paid tribute to staff as well as to this year’s two Lumen Christi award winners. One of the Lumen Christi awards went to Keith Koberinski in the “friend” category.

It appears the archives are moving towards become a totally volunteer-run operation. The city has confirmed that city archivist Tammy Donahue Buziak had resigned as of Oct. 31, 2018.

Competitors from North Battleford high schools finished in the medals at the provincial badminton championship on the weekend in Swift Current.

The Battleford Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides will take place June 2 at the Lions building in Battleford. The walk is one of about 300 taking place across Canada to raise funds for the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides.

Saturday at aprox 7:45 p.m., Battlefords RCMP attempted to stop a stolen vehicle that was seen driving in North Battleford. The vehicle refused to stop and drove into a residential area.

A special family and friends event was held at the new Giant Tiger store in downtown North Battleford Friday evening, with plans to open to the public at 8 a.m. Saturday morning, with more activities lined up to celebrate.
