The Battlefords Regional News-Optimist has come up as an award winner in several categories at the annual Saskatchewan Weekly Newspaper Association Better Newspapers Competition. Reporters John Cairns and Josh Greschner each earned awards.

Judging by the photos, it seems to be as much fun behind the serving table as lining up for it at the annual Wildlife Federation Smoker. It’s always a full house, as it was April 6. They come from miles around for the meat.

Council notes April 8 meeting

Results are in for the Battlefords Water Doves Synchronized Swim Club from their recent competition at the Sadie Caulder Knight Provincial Stream Championships. The championships took place at Shaw Centre in Saskatoon from April 1 to 3.

The Hyas baseball team will be inducted into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame, Team Category, Saturday, Aug. 17, in Battleford. The first Hyas baseball team photograph was of a 1920s team wearing knitted uniforms.
