The next hearing date of the Saskatchewan Review Board into Layne Larose has been scheduled for May 6. The hearing date comes on the heels of a Jan. 15 hearing into Larose and its subsequent decision, obtained by the News-Optimist this week.

In an announcement made Saturday, the city of North Battleford will host an event from the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling next year.

The Borden Friendship Club held a Valentine’s tea for Telemiracle on Feb. 11, with 44 dropping in to enjoy strawberry shortcake. Collected at the door and going to Telemiracle will be $210. The bake table proceeds went to the club.

4-H Notes

The school's senior mixed curling teams participated in the conference playoffs in Spiritwood on Feb. 9 and 10. The first team consisted of Sean and Meghan Brehon, Conner Garrett and Cassidy Serhienko.

Happy belated Valentine’s Day to everyone. Many Meota ladies were treated to a fine dinner at the local hotel Sunday evening. The dining room was tastefully decorated and the meal and service were great. It was a full house and a happy place to be.

After defeating Calgary to finish off their three-game homestand, the Saskatchewan Rush travelled to Colorado for their second game of the season against the Mammoth.

February is clipping along and folks are definitely noticing the pleasurable experience of that sun being out just a little longer each day. Spring fever is starting to set in even though this has been an incredibly wonderful winter.
