North Battleford remains a popular spot for those crossing the country for a cause. That was evident again Wednesday, as local WA WA Shriners in the Battlefords welcomed the national Exceptional Care Odyssey to the community.

Twenty years ago around this time, a seminal moment in American history took place. That moment, of course, was the O.J. Simpson murder case. Yes, I know, you are shaking your head at that statement.

One can't drive around the countryside without marvelling at how green and beautiful everything looks after all the rain. Rain is great but it can be trying if you wish to spray. I have scattered showers marked for the first couple of days of July.

The provincial government has again signed on to a gas tax agreement with the government of Canada. The agreement, spanning 10 years, will send $56.3 million to municipalities for infrastructure projects in the year 2014-15.

It was a slow week in the NSRBL with the holiday weekend, keeping a light six-game schedule. There was one game June 25. The Flyers edged the St. Walburg Reds 9-8 in Mervin. Four games were on the schedule June 26.

She was discovered May 11, Minor Ball Day in Unity. "Diamond Duck," as she was affectionately referred to, drew much curiosity after her emergency delivery under a picnic table at the busy ball diamonds.

Sunday is a day the Rider Nation won't soon forget. Amidst one of the worst summer storms in recent memory, the Saskatchewan Roughriders kicked off the 2014 CFL season in fine style by blowing out the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 31-10 at Mosaic Stadium.
