The RM of Meota, Village of Meota and Resort Village of Metinota have a spanking new state-of-the-art fire truck and they are building a new fire hall to house it.

The Neilburg United Church celebrated their 60th anniversary May 26.During the service past ministers Ted Haas, Ken Flamghan and Harold Martin shared memories of their time in Neilburg. An ensemble that included Gracie Haas preformed a few pieces.

Downward crime trend in May

The crime numbers in May continued with the steady downward trend that has been going on throughout 2014. Calls for service for the month are down significantly to 993, compared to 1,663 for the same month a year ago.

Meota seniors host Edam seniors for potluck and card games

More than 20 seniors from Edam visited the Meota seniors at the Do Drop In June 18, to partake in a great potluck dinner and social afternoon. This followed their regular monthly meeting in the Do Drop In, in the morning.

Sloughs developing in seeded fields

We have just had a few days of rain, sometimes very heavy. It has rained well over an inch. Yesterday I noticed many fields had sloughs here and there in areas that had been seeded. Sunday brought us quite a bit of cloud and some sun.

City crews at Territorial and 100th Street

The Territorial Drive and 100th Street intersection will operate as a four-way stop for most of this afternoon as crews get the new traffic light signal system up and running. Drivers are asked to slow down and be aware of flag people.
