At the last convention of SSAI held in Saskatoon it was decided to hand over the responsibility of representing its members to Saskatchewan Seniors Mechanism.

The first day back after the February break, the school was quiet again. There were a few students at the school, but most were unable to attend because of the severe wind chill.

The Saskatchwan Housing Authority has announced appointments to several local housing authority boards in the Northwest.

North West Mutual Aid Area hosted a disaster planning exercise in St. Walburg Feb. 22. The mock emergency centre exercise was designed by the mutual aid co-ordinators and was facilitated by Randy Buckland of Emergency Fire and Safety.

Well, this Saturday, will March come in like a lamb or a lion? I know I join the thousands of people who are hoping for lamb-like conditions until spring.

Sunday evening the temperature was once again down to - 27 C. We did enjoy the few days of warmer weather. We have had very little snow and no strong winds even though the temperature has dropped.

So far I have introduced three adjudicators for this year's Kiwanis Battlefords Music Festival - band adjudicator Greg McLean, our strings adjudicator Rudolf Sternadel and Kevin Powers, adjudicator exclusive to Musical Theatre.

It might be too soon to refer to North Battleford as "Hollywood North," but the city and region could see some movie activity in the near future.

Congratulations to Team Burnett who captured the silver medal at the Saskatchewan Winter Games in Prince Albert over the weekend. In pool A round robin they won three and lost one, then won the first playoff game against Lakeland.

Inspector John Sutherland of the RCMP says cold weather is likely the main reason calls for service were down during the month of January compared to a year ago.
