Ed, my neighbour next door, has a few subjects that you dare not mention or he will talk both of your ears off. One subject I have made every effort possible to avoid is the topic of gun control.

The Wilkie Outlaws extended their lead atop the NSRHL standings to seven points last weekend. The Outlaws won their 11th straight game Friday night, beating the Jets 8-3 in Maidstone.

This past week has seen a flurry of news coinciding with the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association convention in Regina.

Dear Editor Regarding "The Stories They Tell Us" (Regional Optimist, Jan. 30), thanks for the coverage. Chapel Gallery is a beautiful space, and it is nice when a show is so well attended. I have a correction to make on the article.

Dear Editor Lyle Comstock's letter (Truth from MP would be a change, Regional Optimist Jan. 30) touches on a variety of subjects, but his points are consistently void of reality.

The groundhog saw his shadow so we are going to have six more weeks of winter. The good news is there should be lots of snow for the school's Winter Olympics and ski trip.

The Borden Friendship Club held their January potluck supper Jan. 29, with 35 out to enjoy the evening. Celebrating birthdays for December were Jean Hryniuk and, for January, Elizabeth Derksen and Lorraine Olinyk.

North West Regional College and Mistawasis First Nation have announced plans to enter into an agreement that will strengthen their partnership for the benefit of the First Nation community, according to a NWRC press release.

I am so excited about this month as it is filled with two of my favourite events - celebrating family birthdays and watching the best of curling on TV. Opening ceremonies for the Olympics will also be on the agenda.

We have a bit of catching up to do this week. Things have been slow around Edam in the news department. The last trip of the month draw for 2013 was won by Brian and Carol Weber of Vawn, with Terry Chambers of Turtleford winning the $100.
