The Borden Friendship Club held a Christmas bingo Dec. 17 with a small turnout. Winning hams or turkeys were Helen Sutherland, Audrey Duda, Lottie Petriew and Terry Kun. Double winners were Rita Smith, Jackie Meister and Eileen Petrun.

Several minor traffic issues were reported to Battlefords RCMP between 6 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8 and 6 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, and members assisted ambulance personnel on three occasions, Wednesday 11:05 a.m. - Found hockey bag on 100th Street.

Council meetings in the Village of Meota have changed the date to the second Tuesday of the month, so the next meeting will be on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. in the village office.

A one-time grant of $40,000 is going towards improving and managing air quality data.

January is Crime Stoppers month - recognized not only in Saskatchewan but around the world. According to a news release from Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers, there are more than 1,200 Crime Stoppers programs in more than 20 countries around the world.

The Wilkie Outlaws continued their impressive NSRHL campaign with a 7-3 win over the Maidstone Jets Saturday night. It was the Outlaws' third straight win following their only loss of the season to the Edam 3 Stars Dec. 20.

Ten of the 14 candidates for Battlefords Chamber of Commerce director seats have been elected, including seven incumbents and three individuals new to the board.

North Battleford city officials have announced dates for the 2014 budget deliberations. The meetings are set for Wednesday, Jan. 15 beginning at 6:30 p.m., and Monday, Jan. 20 at 7 p.m.
