It was an exciting day for football fans in the Battlefords Monday.

The Battlefords RCMP Daily Report has made it clear there is frequent misuse of the 911 emergency system, sometimes even resulting in charges.

Six false alarms were among the approximately 20 calls for service/occurrences responded to by Battlefords RCMP between 6 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7 and 6 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8. Tuesday 6:43 a.m. - Single vehicle collision reported on Highway 16 bypass.

Twenty-year-old defenceman Dillon Forbes was recently named Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League defenceman of the month for his strong play through the month of December.

We now have exited the year 2013. I would say a heartfelt good riddance. Some may have had a good year, but not here. First was the problem of trying to get last year's crop off that we didn't get done in 2012.
