Those involved with North Battleford's downtown business improvement district are reporting early success in efforts to turn around the downtown core.

A traffic stop near White City has led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man wanted by Lloydminster RCMP. White City RCMP were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 48 at White City Thursday morning at about 7:30 a.m.

North Battleford has quietly bowed out of the running for the 2016 Saskatchewan Summer Games. There had been preliminary interest expressed in the games by North Battleford city council earlier this year.

St. Vital Catholic Women's League will celebrate their 50th anniversary Nov. 16. The program will begin at 5 p.m. with the Holy Eucharist celebrated by Bishop Albert Thévenot. This will be followed by a banquet at 6:45 p.m.

A speedy recovery is wished to Robert Greer, as he had surgery done on his knee in a Saskatoon hospital. He spent a week recovering with his daughter Christine Greer at Lloydminster and now he is back home.

The good harvest weather is tough to find as it is dewy now until almost noon and is getting dark just after supper. Oh where, oh where did summer go? This almost feels like November weather.

Larry and Jackie Georget found a niche market in Leask and opened their Kool Kats Gas Bar and Confectionery Sept. 11 after extensive renovations were done to the interior of the building.

This thanksgiving weekend has blessed us with good weather. It is only 10 C, but lots of sunshine. Those who are still combining are thankful for the continued fine, dry weather.

Whether you know the event as a "fowl supper" or a "fall supper," this time honoured tradition is always anticipated in the communities they take place.

Last week most of the elementary bulletin boards were covered with turkeys and reasons to be thankful. We hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and thought about all the reasons they are thankful and lucky to be living in Canada.
