Albert Headrick is now on the job as North Battleford's new fire chief. He started work Aug. 15, and was introduced to North Battleford city council Aug. 19 by Deputy Chief Brian Wilson. The following day, he met with the media at the fire hall.

City council in North Battleford has given the go-ahead to a local improvement on Pioneer Avenue. The improvement covers Pioneer Avenue from Battleford Road to 114th Street with $189,293.10 to be paid by the municipality and $140,253.

Kowalyk case adjourned to Sept. 18

The case against the man who led police on a 90-minute chase in the Northwest region will see his case return to North Battleford Provincial Court Sept. 18.

When goodbyes come

It's been a week of goodbyes. While one was a final farewell, the other two were of the "until we meet again" variety. All were accompanied by mixed emotions. First there was the return of two young men to their native land.

WILLETT: Clara Edna Willett of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2013 at the age of 88.

The North Battleford centennial committee has Dec. 31 circled on their calendar for the last major event of the celebration year. That will be the closing ceremonies, which will take place at the CUPlex.
