I groan as I write this article. It seems as though the news has been focused on the wonderful winter weather we have been experiencing; it is what seems to put this province on the map. Last Wednesday was the official start of spring.

Here is a rundown of some highlights from the Monday council meeting in North Battleford. (Much of this information comes courtesy of Communications And Marketing Co-ordinator Mike Halstead.

The 90th annual Men's Open Bonspiel held in North Battleford March 21 to 24 attracted 28 rinks with the top prize going to a local rink skipped by Barry Massett.

The 82nd local Battlefords Kiwanis Music Festival season came to a celebratory close with an enchanting Dance Connection musical theatre performance showcasing beloved Mary Poppins songs at the gala and awards ceremony held the evening of March 22nd

The Mervin 4-H Beef Club held thier speech night on Feb. 11 at the Turtleford school. Jim and Nancy Range served as judges. Jayden Bannnerman was placed first in the juniors.

Borden Friendship Club held their final bingo for the spring March 19, with under 20 out to play. Winners of cash prizes were Audrey Duda (three wins), Justine Katerynch (three wins), Jean Longmore, Doreen Flath (twice), Helen Sutherland( twice), L.

Congratulations to Leah (Cheesbough) Nabis who completed classes at Lakeland College on March 20 as an LPN. She has consistently received high marks so was on the Dean's honour list. She will be doing her practicum in Medicine Hat.
