TRUEMNER, Garnet Wallace: It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Garnet Wallace Truemner on October 19, 2012. Garnie, as we all called him, was born on February 12, 1918 in Eston, SK.

Derek Mahon, Battleford's 30th mayor by acclamation, had a relatively light council meeting ahead of him Nov. 5.

The Battlefords North Stars shouldn't be left shaking their heads when thinking about the effort and game they played Tuesday night at the Civic Centre. Ddespite the strong game from the team, they fell 3-1 to the Humboldt Broncos.

ERICKSON: The family of Robert (Bob) Edward Erickson is sad to announce his passing October 26, 2012. Dad was born May 28, 1927 in Austin, Minnesota; the oldest of eight children.

Dear Editor Regarding the letter requesting balanced CUPlex Dekker Centre events coverage (News-Optimist Oct. 31), I recalled the name of the television show, The Facts of Life, upon reading this person's opinion piece.

On Nov. 1 at approximately3 a.m., a vehicle parked on a street in Cut Knife was broken into. Stolen were a Brown Burton jacket with stripes and an iPod. The perpetrator broke the driver and passenger side windows with a brick from a neighbour's yard.

Oct. 27, the Battlefords Bantam Sharks opened their East Central Alberta Female Hockey League season and did so with a 5-4 win over Viking at the Civic Centre. The next day, the Sharks travelled to Vermilion and earned an 8-0 victory.

Today, I am going to talk about the election, and the topics of "hope" and "change." No, I am not talking about the American election.
