Three Northwest School Division schools received Provincial Sportsmanship Awards from the Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association in the past week.

The third place Maidstone Jets have put a bit of a scare in the defending North Saskatchewan River Hockey League champion St. Walburg Eagles.

Flight Corporal Jason Reimer is hoping the second time is a charm. Jason, 15, has qualified to participate in the Cadet National Biathlon Competition for the second time. Biathlon is combination of skiing and shooting.

POOL - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John B. Pool, late of Lloydminster and formerly of Cochin, SK on February 17, 2012 at the age of 95 years. John was born on November 26, 1916 at Blaine Lake, Saskatchewan.

Sam and Barb Kennedy stopped in to see their mom Theresa Kennedy. Dorothy Kissick had her daughter Cindy and Joe of Unity take her out for dinner and then visited grandchildren Desarie, Nathan and Quinton Blanchette.

CHARTRAND - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eva Lucy Chartrand, late of North Battleford, on February 6, 2012 at the age of 93 years. Eva was born on April 3, 1918 at North Battleford, Saskatchewan.

Kaiser was played at the Maidstone Drop In Centre Feb. 12. Tied for high score were Jean Stewart and Dorothy Schwartz. Low score went to Eva Inkster. Lunch was provided by Lil McMillan.

DEMKIW: In Loving Memory of Dyan Mary Demkiw who was born April 2, 1960 at Meadow Lake, SK and passed away February 9, 2012 at North Battleford, SK.

A unique exhibition of fibre works is on display at the Chapel Gallery for the month of March. Carol Schmold created one piece each week for a year.

Battlefords citizens were put in touch with their history during Archives Week, when the the City of North Battleford Historic Archives set up displays at Frontier Mall Feb. 8 and at the Territorial Mall Feb. 9th.
