Dear Editor April 9 marks the 95th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

If you were able to attend the Battlefords Kiwanis Music Festival Gala March 23rd, culminating months of Festival planning, you were treated to a contrasting range of musical performances.

There were two, deep mud holes in the alley between 106th and 107th Streets in the 900 block. I stopped at the City yards at 9 a.m. and mentioned to some of the employees that, if they had time, they should check it out, as it was a hazard.

Ed, my neighbour next door, claims it wasn't his fault. A nasty virus has picked on him while he has been minding his own business and leaving everyone else alone. "Those viruses are sneaky. You never see them coming.

The Mayfair Recreation Board will present a Nashville Stars Night April 14 at the Mayfair Hall. MC will be Kolin Bulmer. The house band will be led by Dave Hiebert and company.

It is with a heavy heart and hand that I am writing this in memory of my brother Ken. His untimely death in a farm accident on March 10, 2012 caused a shock wave that ripped threw the hearts of his family, friends and community.

It's spring, and that can only mean one thing, it's pothole season. The unsightly holes in the roads are back in North Battleford, and that has kept city crews busy trying to find and repair them.

"Getting old is for the birds." That is how I used to feel. Now, however, I have reclaimed my life. How about you? Do you feel old? I think it is all a matter of the mind. I really believe age is irrelevant.

Dear Editor There has been lively public debate, as there should be, about the amount of spending in this year's provincial budget. Some feel the government is spending too little, while some other people feel the government is spending too much.

Congratulations to Alisdair Ramsay-Mackenzie who recently received a $50 prize at the Battlefords Kiwanis Music Festival for his sacred reading entry in the speech arts section.
