DEVERDENNE: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marcel Robert Deverdenne, late of Edmonton and formerly of North Battleford, SK on December 5, 2011 at the age of 90 years. Marcel was born February 18, 1921 at Redu, Belgium.

The December meeting of the River's Edge Quilters was attended by only 15 members. December is a busy month for members, so no classes were scheduled. Four classes were hosted in November and all were well attended.

Bright smiles and friendly faces adorned the Speers Recreation Center Dec. 10 as the community hosted their annual Christmas party for the children. The evening was free of charge.

In recent months I have grown increasingly frustrated with a couple of service stations in town. While they shall remain nameless, let's just say I'm an owner. Or rather, a member who receives annual equity cheques as a result of my loyalty.

PIELAK: In Loving Memory of Kathleen Ruth-Ann Pielak who was born January 14, 1946 at Melville, SK and passed away November 26, 2011 at North Battleford, SK.

While many Canadians are planning winter trips to Mexico, a group from the Anglican Diocese of Saskatoon is preparing for a mission trip in June.

There are quite a few times in our lives that we see or attend something and our response afterwards is "that will be a hard act to follow." Well the Christmas concert that was held in Meota Dec. 4 was one of those cases.
