The week started off well for Jim Johnston and his curling team from the Battlefords at the Provincial Masters Men's Championship in Gravelbourg. Johnston won twice Wednesday, as his team edged Derrell Sears 6-5 and Gary Bryden 7-3.

A kitchen mishap earned one North Battleford resident a visit from the firefighters. North Battleford Fire and Emergency Services responded to fire alarms in the Valley View Tower 1, at 1101 99th St., a little after 4 p.m. this Sunday.

Archeological society preserves history

Each day we look for signs which will tell us the long winter is coming to an end. So far, temperatures have fluctuated from very cold to somewhat warmer. The small snowfalls that occur almost every day are adding up to hug piles in some places.

Seniors plan luncheon

Bingo was played Feb. 23 at the Maidstone Drop In Centre Feb. with Jean Hartman and Margaret MacEachern calling. Lunch was provided by Dorothy Harmel. The loonie pot was won by Dorothy Kissick. Cirbbage was played Feb. 28.

Don't try this at home - unless you're in the Landrie family and it's the only way to train for archery shoots in the winter. Stand at one end of the house, shoot through doorways into the kitchen with a bow and arrow nearly at a target metres away.
