Battlefords 50s great hosts

For the love of the game. That is the motivation for most players who took part in the 31st annual Battlefords 50s oldtimers tournament. The 50s beat the Wilkie X-Outlaws, Edmonton Panthers and Prince Albert Chiefs to earn the B pool championship.

Living Sky School Division capitalized on a good deal when they purchased bigger, better buses. Ray Kopera, chief financial officer, said the 46-passenger buses became available for less than the cost of 36-passenger buses.

The Borden Volunteer Firefighters held a snowmobile rally March 5. Ninety riders made the 55-mile round trip up to Redberry Lake and back to Borden Hall. Burgers and beverages were sold through the day.

David Gillatt from Maymont has been a Type 1 insulin dependent diabetic for more than 50 years. Dave was recently awarded a Joslin Medal by the Joslin Diabetes Centre in Boston, Mass. The centre is affiliated with the Harvard Medical School.
