The past week produced plenty of major stories in the professional sports world - the NFL season started, Nadal won the U.S.

Anytime a hockey team returns from a three-day road trip without a win it isn't exactly a positive thing, but in the case of with the Battlefords North Stars' recent road trip to Dauphin, Man. and Yorkton, there were a few positives.

For many young people 4-H means hard work, community involvement and achieving goals. The organization also offers young people the opportunity for adventure, to try new things both at home and away.

Last Wednesday was a collision-filled day on the streets of the Battlefords, with two individuals being sent to hospital following two separate incidents on the roads. One happened at around 12:45 p.m.

The Maidstone School Community Council kicked off the school year with an event designed to bring the schools and the community together.
