We Have Wept
April sixth, Two Thousand and Eighteen
A day of tragedy, and many lost dreams
Young men setting out to their play off game
For a glimmer of winning and a moment of fame.
The “Humboldt Broncos, “Go yellow and green”
Hard working and strong, dedicated and keen
Until this fateful day of the terrible bus crash
Their times before them, in only a flash.
Many lost their lives, and their injuries great
Emotions of horror, scenes too devastating to face.
The disaster was grande, first responders at hand
Emergency rooms at code orange, and command centres to man
Praise going to all for their endless care
The towns came together in unimaginable flare.
A vigil was held to comfort and console
Psalm 23rd was a strong message to consider and hold
Dignitaries attended, sending messages of good will
Go Fund Me in progress to help the families pay bills.
Hockey sticks and candles placed on porches and front doors
Global messages of sympathy, and support of community pours
Wearing ribbons of green, and holding minutes of silence
The volunteers, and messages, it is love at its finest!
All who were affected on this horrific day
Need the hugs and prayers to keep coming their way
Light a candle, hold a hand, just listen to “whom”
We are all mourning, We are all consumed!
The mental wounds will take some time
Cherish the good! Hold onto those smiles
The Saskatchewan community is #Humboldt Strong
With the outpouring of love, stand together,
No matter how long!
No matter how long, lets blanket their pain
These heroes on the bus, already had fame
No matter how long, a moment of silence to pursue,
