The REACT landfill just south of Humboldt was the site of a small fire last Thursday. The Humboldt Fire Department was notified of the fire at around 2:30 p.m.

Despite a slight decline in numbers, the Saskatchewan Blue Cross MS Walk held in Humboldt was a success. Forty-five participants met at St. Augustine's Parish Hall on Sunday afternoon to participate in the annual walk.

The 76th annual general meeting for the Humboldt Co-op was held May 21.

In baseball action, the Marysburg Royals opened their season on May 23 with a 6-4 win over the Saskatoon Outlaws in Saskatoon.

Humboldt's gay and lesbian community now has an organization to call its own. The inaugural meeting of the Humboldt chapter of Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) was held on May 19 at the Westminster United Church.

The opening salvo of the track and field season saw Glenn Hall Park overrun with swarms of athletes from all across the region. They ran and jumped and threw. Some came first, some came last. Most were somewhere in the middle.
