It was a beautiful weekend for a baseball tournament. The Muenster Bantam Red Sox swept the Zone 5 provincial playoffs, winning all three of their games.

The water keeps rising and another politician made an appearance in rural Saskatchewan.Ralph Goodale, the lone Liberal MP from Saskatchewan, was in the east-central region of the province on June 30, checking out the flood damage for himself.

First of all, I would like to personally congratulate the Humboldt Collegiate Institute senior girls' basketball team on their bronze medal at Hoopla this year. I understand the work and dedication it takes to win a medal at Hoopla.

They hosted and won last year and are hoping for a repeat. The Muenster Pee Wee Red Sox are in the midst of preparing to host the Pee Wee A2 Provincial baseball tournament July 16-18 and coach Troy Anderson is busy.

The rain keeps falling and more problems keep coming.

It's time to bring out your boats if you are travelling down Highway 5. As of July 2, a section of Hwy. 5, about seven kilometers west of Humboldt, is closed due to flooding.

Humboldt is a city that cares about its heritage. That was the message brought to the community during three Heritage Values meetings held at the Humboldt and District Museum and Gallery on June 21.

Mrs. Florence May Vetterl, 80 years of Watson and formerly of Spalding passed away on Monday, July 5, 2010 at Humboldt District Hospital. Florence was born on December 3, 1929 to John & Emma (nee Johnson) Vetterl at the homestead east of Spalding.

Be careful when driving on Highway 5 or you might just float away. The water level on Highway 5 has now crept up the sides of the highway. The highway is now being manned by flag people, warning motorists to drive with caution.

It's been a tough season so far, but one local baseball team is hoping things get better. The Humboldt Dodgers AAA Midget baseball team hasn't had much luck getting games in this season with the continual rain.
