I retired as principal/CEO from Carlton Trail Regional College about 15 years ago. We decided to remain in Humboldt because it is a great place to live.

This week, I had the pleasure of interviewing Humboldt's Citizen of the Year for 2011. I also got to write about the accomplishments of the other five fine nominees for the award. And I have to say, I'm very impressed.

This letter is to bring to attention to current proposed changes to the province's regional college system and the concerns of One Arrow First Nation.

As a former employee of Carlton Trail Regional College (CTRC), I have been following the story as my town council raises concerns about the proposed merger between CTRC and St. Peter's College (SPC) in Muenster.

It was a night for pats on the back, and funds for community projects. Humboldt's fire, ambulance and police crews came together once again to host the fifth annual Humboldt Emergency Services Charity Event on February 5.
