EAST CENTRAL — The North East School Division (NESD) budget is on track, but wouldn’t have been had it not been for the province’s COVID-19 emergency funding, according to Wanda McLeod, the division’s superintendent of business.

RM OF HUMBOLDT — A tender to build a southbound bypass lane at the Highway 20 – Manor Park Road intersection south of Humboldt has been issued by the provincial government.

RM OF TORCH RIVER — Open burning is believed to be the cause of a structure fire which destroyed a barn north west of Love. The Nipawin Fire Department responded to the call on April 17 at 3:25 p.m.

WHITE FOX — Thanks to the quick work of the property owner, no pets were harmed in a structure fire that burned down a kennel west of White Fox. The Nipawin Fire Department arrived at the residence on April 17 at 11:57 a.m.

LEROY — LeRoy School students will be learning from home after the Horizon School Division was made aware of two COVID-19 diagnoses at the school.

MELFORT — Cam Lee, a former radio broadcaster, has been hired as the executive director for the Melfort Trade Alliance Chamber of Commerce.

EAST CENTRAL — School days will be 10 minutes longer for Horizon School Division students in the next school year, but in return, they’ll receive five extra days off.
