HUMBOLDT — Humboldt area conservation officers are asking for the public’s help to locate a mule deer buck that has a string of Christmas lights tangled in its antlers. The deer was reported within the Humboldt community on Dec. 8.

HUMBOLDT — Five local businesses in the area were each presented $3,000 by Sagehill Community Futures for responding to COVID-19 in unique and innovative ways.

NIPAWIN — Brian Starkell, Nipawin’s former fire chief, has been elected as the national president of the Canadian Volunteer Fire Services Association (CVFSA). Starkell started firefighting in 1976 for the Village of Codette as a junior firefighter.

MELFORT — With Transport Canada finishing off their inspection at the end of November, the helipad at the Melfort Hospital is now open to receive STARS Air Ambulance right to the hospital.

TISDALE — Owning a trucking company in Tisdale, Colin Chupa knows the difficulties truckers have along Highway 3, especially with no parking allowed along the highway.

LANIGAN — Two large D-Cell batteries were stolen out of a backhoe that was parked near the Lanigan campground off Highway 16. Humboldt-Lanigan RCMP said the crime took place during the weekend of Oct. 31.
