Places of worship can now prepare to open in Phase III of Reopen Saskatchewan. Guidelines for these groups are included in the latest update of the Government of Saskatchewan’s plan to reopen the provincial economy.

NIPAWIN — Nipawin is working to determine how it will use $633,000 in extra funding from the province. The extra money comes from the Municipal Economic Enhancement Program, which aims to simulate the economic while boosting local infrastructure.

MELFORT — Melfort city council met during the week to finalize a couple of important decisions facing the city.

HUMBOLDT — After 35 years with the city, Sandra Pauli, the city clerk and director of corporate services, is retiring. Her last day was May 29.

MELFORT — Melfort will use $861,000 from the province on walking trails, paving, water main replacements, a program to help citizens connect to city hall online and the Kerry Vickar Centre.

NIPAWIN — Before approving a tree inventory tender, Nipawin council wants more details on why staff are not recommending a lower bidder.

HUMBOLDT — A power line that’s in the way of expansion at the airport will be moved. The city will pay for half of the $25,000 cost, while the province’s Community Airport Partnership (CAP) grant will pay for the other half.

HUMBOLDT — For the Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce, 2019 was about building connections with businesses, expanding its events and getting closer to a breakeven position financially.

EAST CENTRAL — Class will not look the same when students return in September as it did in March – that is, if they return to a physical classroom.

HUMBOLDT — Humboldt is withdrawing from a regional alliance of towns, villages and rural municipalities. Effective Jan. 1, 2021, the city will no longer be a member of the Mid-Sask Municipal Alliance.
