Students from two of Humboldt’s Catholic elementary schools learned how to be safe both at home and on the farm. This year’s Progressive Agriculture Safety Day was held at the Uniplex Oct. 3.

Council has agreed to create a marketing committee for the city. The decision was made at the Oct. 24 council meeting.

MELFORT — The fountain was vandalized at Memorial Gardens on Main Street in Melfort. The vandalism occurred on the night of Sept. 28. “There was broken items, the fountain was damaged,” said Cpl. Kyle Wyonzek with the Melfort RCMP.

The Horizon School Division will soon move into a new $5.5 million central office that it owns outright and that will house their entire operation under one roof.

MELFORT — Dr. Allan Woo, a Saskatoon orthopedic surgeon and vice-president of the Saskatchewan Medical Association (SMA) arrived in Melfort to discuss issues of interest to physicians and their association.

The Humboldt Mohawks are still undefeated after topping the Churchill Chargers last week. Despite the long road trip to La Ronge, Humboldt made the most of the Sept. 28 game, beating the Chargers 37-19 after a fourth quarter push.

A restorative justice program is asking the City of Humboldt if there’s any jobs that can be done by those criminals that are repaying their debt to society through them.

NIPAWIN — The winners of the 25th Vanity Cup annual walleye tournament were Nipawin residents Curtis Fehr and Logan Bishop. Second place was Tom Johnston and Larry Johnston, and third place was Delvin Kushniryk and Linda Kushniryk.

MELFORT — Hundreds gathered in Melfort to honour residential school survivors and victims during Orange Shirt Day, holding each other’s hands as they walked together in a circle for a round dance.

A new app will let citizens know about emergency situations in their neighbourhoods.
