HUTMACHER: Frances Mary (Hoffman) Born Bruno, Sask., March 3rd, 1913 Passed away Winnipeg, Man., Feb. 27th 2017 Frances passed away four days short of her 104th Birthday.

GERSPACHER: Agnes Christina March 3, 1923 – May 13, 2017 Mrs. Agnes Christina (nee Knafelc) Gerspacher of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson, SK, passed away at her residence on Saturday, May 13, 2017. She was 94 years of age.

The Town of Nipawin has set its tax levy – and it has decided to reduce the portion that every property owner must pay the same dollar amount for, the base tax. Coun. Joyce Watts said the reduction is part of a three-year strategy.

When Nipawin’s pool reopens this summer, it will no longer be known as the Irene Manley Swimming Pool. Thanks to an unanimous vote by council, it will be The Pool @ Central Park.

The Flippin’ Fiddler cannot recall how many years he has performed in Humboldt. But he can add another show onto that total with a show at the Humboldt Legion on May 19.

The city was thrown a curve ball come budget time with the City of Humboldt losing almost $500,000 of provincial funding. This made for an interesting time for Mayor Rob Muench and his first budget as mayor.

There is always learning curves to a new position. But the new Executive Director of the Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce, Stacey Poss, says she is ready to take on the challenges of growing the Chamber.

It was a long and winding road for Carmel’s Jerome Engele who played 100 games in the National Hockey League and is now being inducted into the Humboldt and District Hall of Fame at their 2017 induction ceremony.
