An effort by Melfort’s city council to improve late night cab service has had no effect so far. The city changed the rules to allow cab companies to charge $18 for any ride – an increase of $7 – from the hours of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

It is time the National Hockey League ends the charade and agrees to go to the Olympics.

They are off the beaten track but well worth the trip. And for another year, Mel Bolen and Karen Holden opened up their North Star Gallery to the public for a weekend showing of their artwork May 13 to 14.

It was an incredibly successful trip to the provincial championships for Calico Gymnastics Club on May 12-14 as they brought home a number of top three finishes in individual events and three all around medals as well.

On May 3 and 10, I took part in the Safe Communities Humboldt and Area 13th annual Prevent Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma in Youth (PARTY) program mock crash scene; first as a drunk driver and then as a victim being extricated.

Troy Lucyshyn was recently recognized for all of the hard work he has put into figure skating over the last number of years with the Skate Canada Saskatchewan Section Volunteer Award.

It was a journey of self-discovery and now Humboldt photographer Melanie Gray has the opportunity to share it across the country.

NIEBRUGGE: Joseph November 21, 1926 – May 6, 2017 The sudden and unexpected death of Mr. Joseph Arnold Niebrugge, 90 years, of Humboldt occurred at his residence on Saturday, May 6, 2017. He was the last surviving sibling in the family.

ROBSON: Ronald Philip February 20, 1949 – May 10, 2017 Ron passed away at the Lanigan Integrated Facility on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 of terminal Lung Cancer. He was 68 years of age. Ron was born on February 20, 1949 in Nokomis, SK.

HNATIW: William Glen January 1, 1966 – May 1, 2017 Mr. William Hnatiw (Willy) of the Bruno district passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the age of 51 years. William was born on January 1, 1966 to John Joseph Hnatiw and Pauline (nee Stecyk).
