Tisdale’s coffee – and liquor – drinkers can rejoice. “We were informed today that the Tim Hortons and the Sobeys liquor store will be starting construction shortly, depending on weather,” said Sean Wallace , Tisdale’s economic development officer.

For Marco Pelchat , it was a celebration of the end of one adventure and the beginning of a new one. Pelchat was this year’s graduating class at Zenon Park’s École Notre-Dame-Des-Vertus.

For the nine graduates of Arborfield School, their ceremony marked the beginning of going after anything they wanted. Nicole Lacroix , one of the valedictorians, was pleased that her class had finished 13 years of public education.

Nipawin council, not the public, will decide if fluoride should be added to the town’s drinking water. They defeated a motion at their June 12 meeting to hold a referendum on Sept. 20 asking the public about the issue.

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League held their Annual General Meeting in Nipawin on June 3 and while there was no earth shattering changes to the league they are undergoing some minor ones.

An organization that wants to improve Highway #55 between Nipawin and The Pas, Man., spent 2016 building a case and turning itself into a lobby group funded by its members. The Gateway Keewatin Corridor Inc.

The City of Melfort is beginning to ramp up negotiations with the union that represents its workers. The collective agreement between the city and the Canadian Union of Public Employees 777 ended Dec. 31, 2016.

The sheer amount of stories linked to Original Humboldt is awe inspiring. Those stories had the chance to be told during the Original Humboldt event on June 8.

Construction does not always run smoothly and the City of Humboldt are being reminded of that with the ongoing construction at the Water Distribution Facility.
