For the first time in three years the Humboldt Broncos are getting set for Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League quarterfinal action, as they will take on the Nipawin Hawks.

It must be a daunting prospect to look at the multi-billion dollar Government of Saskatchewan budget and determine where all those dollars are going to spent – but long-overdue improvements on Highway #5 must be one of them.

Small Saskatchewan centres, like Humboldt, are unique. And the recent Humboldt Emergency Services Charity Event is a prime example of how community services working together can make a world of difference.

FLEISCHHACKER: Angeline May 18, 1924 – March 3, 2017 The death of Angeline (nee Ehalt) Fleischhacker occurred at her residence, St. Mary’s Villa, Humboldt, SK, on Friday, March 3, 2017. She was 92 years of age.

It is going to be nasty, tenacious, and gritty. “And the team that wants it the most is usually going to be the team that wins.” That’s what awaits the Nipawin Hawks in the quarter-final round of the playoffs, said Doug Johnson , the head coach.

The Nipawin Hawks’ penalty had one of their toughest outings of the season as they gave up three goals on four chances in a 4-0 loss to the Flin Flon Bombers.

Game 1 A sleepy five minute stretch in the second period had the Melfort Mustangs in an early hole as they dropped Game 1 of their best of five Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League survivor series 4-1 against the Notre Dame Hounds.

For the year 2016, Nipawin saw more crime than Melfort or Tisdale. Staff Sergeant Darren Wouters brought last year’s statistics to Nipawin Council March 13.

The Nipawin Chamber of Commerce is looking for some extra funding from the Town. Last year, the Town’s fee for service accounted for $15,000 of the Chamber’s revenue. This year, the Chamber would like to see that increase to $30,000.

A proposed seniors’ rental complex in Melfort is getting yet another extension on its hold on a piece of land. Bridge Road Developments can now terminate the land sale agreement without penalty until July 1.
