As the Humboldt Broncos and Melfort Mustangs prepare for their first round playoff matchup, both coaches are expecting a tight series. "There's not really any edge one way or another," said Broncos coach Dean Brockman.

While nothing has been finalized yet, the Elizabeth's Place Care Home project has become a definite possibility. Citizens from the Humboldt community banded together in the fall of last year to form Elizabeth's Place Inc.

JAEB: Louis Louis G. Jaeb was born on January 8, 1915 at Humboldt, Sask to Louis and Mary (nee Frank) Jaeb. After attending Burton Lake School for a number of years he began working as a farm hand.

SVAB: Kathleen Ann June 18, 1924 - February 27, 2014 The death of Mrs. Kathleen (nee Demeter) Svab of Humboldt, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, on Thursday, February 27, 2014. She was 89 years of age.

HOPFNER: Jennie Jennie Clemmie Hazel Hopfner was born on July 28 th , 1939 on the family farm near St. Brieux, Saskatchewan. She attended Sacriston Country School and graduated from St. Brieux High School in 1958.

VEN DER BUHS: Raymond (John) Sept. 27, 1933- Feb. 28, 2014 Husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, philosopher and friend.

Both the senior boys and girls' basketball teams from Humboldt Collegiate Institute have advanced to the regional championships. The boys will move on after finishing second at the conference tournament held at Saskatoon Christian School.
