A new family was welcomed to Ruddell at a post harvest and pre-Halloween potluck Oct. 30. Dustin and Leah Kulpa and their two children daughter Lerie, 3, and baby son Dayten. Dustin works at Lawrence School in North Battleford.

The Neilburg School Community Council held their annual general meeting Oct. 10. All positions were filled by acclamation. Karen Putnam is the chair with Carla Schmidt as the vice-chair.

Fourteen Battlefords Art Club members were greeted by a rare sunny day Tuesday with many interesting new media to challenge their imaginations and create new works of art.

Local librarian Colleen Wicks hosted a Halloween party for children 10 and under at the library Oct. 29. Happy the Clown, Phyllis Cunningham, was in attendance.

The Marsden School Community Council held their annual meeting Oct. 16.

Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) Foundation's Festival of Trees is approaching quickly with events from Friday, Nov. 30 to Sunday, Dec. 2. The Festival of Trees hosts the Carnival & Bazaar Sunday at the Gold Ridge Centre, North Battleford from 10 a.

The Borden 4-H Light Horse Club reorganized the end of September.

Hello again, quilting fans. The Rivers' Edge Quilters had their monthly meeting Nov. 2. Members meet the first Friday of every month. Last month, special guest was Gail Bertoia from Cut Knife.

As our great city prepares to celebrate its centennial in 2013, one is compelled to reflect on the extraordinary journey on which our forbearers embarked at the turn of the 20th century.

Halloween! Hope the little ones have a safe and happy one. Tillie Lenhert accompanied her daughter to the Vic Juba Centre, where she enjoyed the show of the Hank Williams impersonator. The music was just great.
