Speers and District United Church held their annual White Gift Sunday and Christmas program Dec. 12. The gifts collected during the service will be sent to Interval House in North Battleford. The church service was conduced by Rev.

The RM of Round Hill met for its final meeting of the year Dec 10. For the first time in several years there is a full council of seven.

As I get my thoughts together to write down some of my usual ramblings, we are right on the verge of celebrating one of Christianity's most important celebrations. Christmas is only a few days, hours and minutes away.

The Maymont Central School seniorboys' volleyball team ended a successful season with a trip to 2A provincials in Medstead. They played well and were excellent sports. The team captured fourth place, losing a close bronze medal match to Medstead.

Radisson honoured their Citizen of the Year Dec. 17. Receiving the plaque for 2010 was Darin Beaudoin. David Ruzesky presented the plaque, saying Darin has shown dignity and leadership in Radisson and surrounding communities for several years.

Best wishes to all students. They have been on their Christmas holiday since Friday, Dec. 17. Enjoy the break. A long time resident of the Waseca area, Richard (Ritchie) Roberts passed away in Lloydminster Hospital Dec. 14 at the age of 75 years.

Christmas carols to greet every new morning and practices for the annual Division 1 concert at Ratushniak Elementary School, brought the spirit of the holidays to the children of Maidstone.

We are all saddened to her of the passing of Leonide Bulani, 86 years old, Nov 27. He was a resident of North Battleford, but formerly from Lizard Lake where he farmed and raised the family who remain on the farm.

A memorial service for Thomas Frederick Brooks, a long time resident of Neilburg and the Freemont area, was held Dec. 13 from the Manitou Evangelical Free Church, with Pastor Mel Letkeman officiating.

Heavenly. Epic. Wonderful. These are all words used to describe the Dec. 12 performance of Handel's Messiah, held at Battleford United Church.
