Next weekend a group of volunteers will complete painting, floor staining and clean up at Waseca's Heritage Christ Church. Thank you to Border Paint of Lloydminster, who donated the paint and materials needed to do the job.

Michelle Sutherland of Calgary visited with her mother-in-law, Sandra Sutherland, on the weekend on her way home from Saskatoon where she attended a Saskatchewan Roughriders gala. Here late sister-in-law was honoured at the gala. She had been a cancer spokesperson for the Roughriders, who are supporters of cancer research.

This is a busy time of year for Communities in Bloom. The group in Waseca are planting Oakanese Poplar and Swedish Aspen, two fast growing trees. The Swedish Aspen will be planted in Snell Park to replace some trees as well as new planting. The Oakanese Poplar are being planted along the walking trail. Oakanese Poplar are a drought resistant, fast growing poplar released by the PFRA in Indian Head just a few years ago. Plaques are now ready to be installed in Snell Park.
