If you have questions about your future, Gabriole Harlingten might have the answer. The artistic young woman gives tarot readings from her home in North Battleford.

It being October, the Tarot Read & a Coffee sign in a window on the 1300 block of 108th Street might be mistaken for Halloween decorations.

But although Gabriole Harlingten is a big fan of Halloween, the sign has been in her window for the last two years.

"I just moved to North Battleford and I didn't really know anybody so I thought let's just pop a sign in the window and meet the community," said Harlingten.

Harlingten said reading tarot cards, which she does by donation, has helped her meet people in the community.

The 27-year-old started reading tarot cards over 13 years ago, when a friend gave her a deck as a birthday present.

Since then, Harlingten has read books, talked with experts and watched shows on the art of tarot, vastly improving her skills.

"I've given some pretty accurate reads," she said, adding her warnings have helped people out of hot water; including herself.

She said she was considering a home birth for one of her three children, but the cards advised against it. Harlingten heeded the advice and went to the hospital, where she nearly bled to death.

When she's not saving lives, the single mother runs a home and yard maintenance company and works on her art.

Her many paintings, some Alfred Hitchcock-inspired, adorn the walls of her home and are also displayed in the windows, as some are for sale.

Harlingten is available for tarot readings between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
