Twenty-nine seniors attended a Dec. 15 monthly potluck supper at the Battleford Hillcrest Centre.
They enjoyed a birthday cake in honour of Minnie and Ron Plum's birthdays. They both turned 90 in December. Happy Birthday was sung to them as well as to Don Mitchell, who turned 80 in December.
For entertainment members enjoyed a return visit of a delightful group of 10 of Erin Foreman's music students. Most of the instruments played were violins, but also included a cello, viola and a pianist, who accompanied some of the selections. They played mostly Christmas carols, but also a moving violin duet of a rendition of Kanon in D.
The students ranged in age from seven to 15. A few of the students came to Canada from Korea less than two years ago and attend École Père Mercure. It was evident all the students enjoyed their music. One boy claims he practised his violin over 400 consecutive days. He is 12 years old.
A couple of the students took part in a recent fiddle contest at Western Development Museum.
As well as giving violin lessons, Foreman teaches Grade 1 at Battleford Central School.
The children were each given bags of goodies as they left.
Other Christmas events at Hillcrest included a social Dec. 18 and a Jam Session Dec. 20.
